Money doesn’t make you rich… experiences make you rich.
This past month I had the pleasure of helping AmericanDreamU, a program that helps people in the military either become an entrepreneur, or find a job that they’ll love. We had some of the top entrepreneurs and business leaders speak at the first event, located on a joint army/air-force base in Ft. Lewis, WA. While each and every one of these speakers could ask for several thousand dollars just to speak at a conference, they did it for free.
Maurice Gallagher – CEO of Allegiant Airlines
Forrest Griffin – UFC Hall of Fame, Former Light Heavyweight Champion and Best Selling Author
Ramit Sethi – New York Times Best Selling Author of I Will Teach You To Be Rich
Ben Huh – CEO of Cheezburger, “Can I Haz Cheezburger” ring a bell?
As well as Phil Randazzo (Founder of AmericanDreamU), Frank Anglin (CEO of GWP) and Ken Wiles (CEO of AlertID)
Being on base for two days was an eye-opening experience, and one I won’t forget. For many of these speakers, money isn’t an issue. But you can’t buy an experience like this. Ramit opened his presentation saying, “Indians don’t shoot M4’s, we do spelling bees.” Maurice Gallagher (CEO of Allegiant Airlines) graciously flew us on his private jet directly on base where we were welcomed by the military with open arms. We landed around 9AM and would participate in “Solider for the Day” activities for the rest of the day… an opportunity that is rarely given.
Photos and videos of the event are limited, as cameras were restricted in most areas. However, we received a few pictures back and I have posted them on Facebook. A short video has also been uploaded to YouTube.
