But these days many are starting to make stock photos without asking permission, and without even asking for a legal license.
For a while it was a joke but now, there is a golden rule: one should ask for permission. For stock photography, the best advice we can give you is that every single image has to have a license to avoid any potential legal issues. But as every creative business owner you need to understand the following:
Why do people ask for permission?
There are many cases when a simple online search will lead you to a “stock photo” site where the photos have no license, let alone credit, on the image. Most of these sites are selling stock photos to companies, universities, museums etc. This is why you have to ask permission before you use a stock photo.
Where can you find these images at?
Google is always full of photos that do not have any license, but it doesn’t mean that they’re copyright free stock photos. Searching for an image usually does not lead you to finding a single original source: they are all copies of images that are in a public repository with many, many sources like magazines, newspapers, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
The good news: The photos listed above are all copyright free.
Use these free stock images on your website.
